1. Who we are

The Star Naming Co. and thestarnamingco.co.uk are trading names of Crowther Creative Products Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 04994959). 2. What you are buying — the honest bit

Our service is a symbolic gift. When you name a star with us, we record your chosen name against a real, catalogued star in The Star Naming Co. Register, our own privately maintained register. Each star in our register is allocated only once and is never resold.

No private star-naming register — ours included — is recognised by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), the scientific body responsible for official astronomical designations. No company can sell an "official" star name, and we make no such claim. What we promise is real: a real star from the Hipparcos astronomical catalogue, identified by its genuine coordinates, uniquely dedicated within our register, and beautifully documented.

3. The product

Each star naming includes: a unique registry number; an entry in our register; a personalised online star page showing your star's position in the sky; and printable A4 documents (name certificate and coordinates sheet). Reprints are free, forever, via your star page.

4. Delivery

The product is digital and delivered automatically. Your star is allocated when payment is confirmed — usually within minutes — and your order confirmation email links to your star page and documents.

5. Cancellation and refunds

By placing an order you consent to immediate supply of the digital content, and you acknowledge that you lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel once the content has been supplied (your star allocated and documents made available).

That said, we want you happy: if something is wrong with your order — a mistake in the star name, a technical problem, or you're simply not satisfied — contact us within 14 days and we will correct the dedication, re-allocate, or refund you. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

6. Your dedication

You are responsible for the star name and message you submit. We may decline or remove dedications that are offensive, unlawful, or infringe another person's rights, and will offer a replacement or refund if we do.

7. The register

We maintain the register on secure cloud infrastructure and intend to keep it running indefinitely. If we ever cease trading, we will make reasonable efforts to publish a final archive of the register so that dedications remain verifiable.

8. Liability

Our total liability for any order is limited to the price paid for that order. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Payments are processed by Shopify; your purchase is also subject to any terms presented at checkout.
