Name a star for their birthday

From £9.99 — emailed in minutes, or printed and posted free Name a Star
Socks wear out. Vouchers get spent. A star named for their birthday is different: a real, catalogued star, dedicated to them in our register. Every birthday after this one, it's still up there with their name on it.
Their birthday constellation
The touch that makes a birthday star feel made for them: choose their zodiac constellation. We offer four of the zodiac — Taurus (April–May), Gemini (May–June), Leo (July–August) and Scorpius (October–November) — plus eight more of the sky's most famous: Orion, Ursa Major, Cygnus, Cassiopeia, Lyra, Pegasus, Andromeda and Aquila. Not sure? Choose “Surprise me” and we’ll pick one for you.

The £9.99 Digital Gift Pack is delivered within minutes, any hour of any day — 11pm the night before is fine; the morning of the birthday breakfast is fine. Print any of the five documents at home and slip one in a card, or send the e-gift reveal by WhatsApp and watch them open the sky on their phone at the party.
Milestone birthdays
- 18th and 21st — a first "forever" possession; the registry number is theirs for life.
- 30th, 40th, 50th — for the person who claims they want nothing. They don't have this.
- 60th, 70th and beyond — a star older than every candle on the cake, with an A4 certificate ready for a frame.
- Children's birthdays — a star of their very own beats another toy, and the live star page becomes a bedtime ritual.
- Twins, or a brother and sister — the Twin Star Gift Pack (£29.99) names two neighbouring stars in the same constellation together on one landscape certificate, with seven documents printed on fine cream stock and posted free in one pack.
The honest bit
Star naming is symbolic — only the International Astronomical Union assigns official star names, and it doesn't sell them, to us or anyone. What's real: the star, its coordinates, and the dedication in our register, verifiable by anyone at any time. Read how it works and what it costs.
Common questions
How quickly can I get a birthday star?
Minutes. The digital gift is ready as soon as payment is confirmed, which is why it works when you have left it late — including on the morning of the birthday itself.
What do they actually receive?
A certificate of star naming, a welcome letter, a coordinates sheet with sky chart, the story of their constellation and a sealed extract from the register — all printable at home — plus their own star page online, for a star named for eternity on our database.
Can I choose a constellation that means something?
Yes. Choose from twelve constellations, including four of the zodiac (Taurus, Gemini, Leo and Scorpius), or let us surprise you from anywhere in the sky.
Is it worth it for a milestone birthday?
It costs £9.99, and it is still theirs on every clear night for the rest of their life. For an 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th or 50th, that outlasts anything else at the price.
